2018/19 Budget and integrated plan adopted

The newly adopted 2018/19 Wyndham City budget and integrated plan will bring new roads, sports facilities, revamped parks and open spaces including $146 million in capital works to the municipality.

The adoption of the budget reaffirms council’s commitment to providing more infrastructure to support the growing community.

The budget also includes the allocation of $37 million for local roads to help ease traffic congestion and improve safety.

Among the roads to be upgraded will be Tarneit Road, which will include a widening of 1.6km between Sayers and Leakes Road, and the widening and sealing of 2.8km of Boundary Road, between Derrimut Road and the Regional Rail Link Bypass.

Wyndham Park in the Werribee City Centre is also set for an $11.4 million redevelopment in November to transform it into a recreation and events space.

Other projects on the horizon include:

  • Brand new sporting reserves and pavilions at Truganina and Upper Point Cook ($861,000)
  • Lawrie Emmins Moto X Track upgrade ($1.6 million)
  • Brand new Truganina East Integrated Family Centre ($2.3 million)
  • Brand new Wyndham Aboriginal Community Centre and Integrated Family Centre ($9.9 million)
